1. Initial Link Assistant Bug Report Submitted
There is a bug in the “Link Assistant” feature. I am trying Link Assistant for the 2nd time, in an effort to replace “Link Whisper”. After some recent updates, I re-enabled it and see that it’s improved much more, even with this 1 bug. Thanks for the improvements. Here’s the bug info which I spent several hours on it before reporting this.
Link Whisper detects bullet lists of URLs and embedded URLs; however, AIOSEO Link Assistant does not. So, if you would, please look into that.
My site is filled with lots of examples but that’s easy enough to verify elsewhere I suppose. I even tapped the option and confirmed this in quite a few of my own posts. Also, I see it in the reporting of low inbound & outbound internal links. Some counts are so low that I have posts shown as being orphaned when, in reality, they’re not. I also confirmed the links are not redirect internal links.
I use Kadence theme, latest WordPress, Kadence Pro blocks, and Gutenberg editor, if that helps. I’m also using the latest AIOSEO version.

2. Follow-up of More Details of AIOSEO Link Assistant Bug
Link Assistant Bug 1: Does Not Count All Inbound Internal Links
There are many examples of uncounted inbound internal links. Overall, this will result in a low count or a zero count of inbound internal links. So, here is an example of a post “Asian Chicken and Rice Casserole“. Link Assistant shows zero inbound internal links to this post.
Also, there are several other internal posts that have an outbound internal link pointing to the above example post as explained next.
After that, a basic search for the exact post’s title reveals 4 total posts, one which includes the original post itself. Depicted are the revealed internal posts.
So, “Stir Fry Zucchini and Yellow Squash” internal post has an existing (outbound) internal link leading directly to the example 1 internal post as shown here.
The other 2 internal posts shown in the search results reflect the same. Those 2 posts are “How do you cook White Rice unattended?” and “Pork and Cabbage Stir Fry“. Also, a review reveals the same results.
Link Assistant Bug 2: Does Not Count All Outbound Internal Links
There are many examples of uncounted outbound internal links. Overall, this will result in a low count or a zero count of outbound internal links. So, here is an example of a post “Asian Chicken and Rice Casserole“. Then, Link Assistant shows 6 outbound internal links to this post.
Below is the depicted example of missed outbound internal links. The bulleted list shows 3 missed links. Also, 1 missed embedded URL, showing its image, exists. Overall, the 4 uncounted outbound internal links are:
- Salad with Romain Lettuce (in bulleted list)
- Recipe for Cantaloupe Salad (in bulleted list)
- Simple Green Salad Recipe (in bulleted list)
- Stir Fry Zucchini and Yellow Squash (embedded URL)

Further testing of several hours narrowed down what types of internal links are ignored by AIOSEO Link Assistant are as follows.
What Types of Links Are Not Counted by this Link Assistant Bug?
- Internal links in a bulleted or numbered list
- Also, embedded URLS using Internal links
- IMPORTANT: EXTERNAL links were not evaluated. This report only reflects internal links, both outbound and inbound.
